Camera Inspection in Apache Junction

A waterproof camera on a push cable travels your drain or sewer line while you watch the screen. You keep the recording, and any talk of repairs starts from what’s actually down there.

A sewer quote in Apache Junction with no footage behind it is an opinion. Ask for the video. If nobody recorded one, a camera inspection costs far less than the repair it is supposed to justify, and it either confirms the quote or retires it. Repeat clogs and slow drains are the usual warning signs that it is time to look.

Know the house and you know half the job. In Apache Junction, the house is most often this: mixed older build with substantial manufactured housing, with galvanized, copper, and CPVC inside it. We plan the visit around that before the truck leaves the lot.

Some reasons to ask for a camera are obvious: a drain that clogs repeatedly, a backup nobody can explain, a quote for sewer replacement you would like to check. Others are easy to miss. Home inspections usually end at the cleanout, so a buyer can close on a house without anyone having looked at the lateral. And a seller who “recently updated” a bathroom rarely updated the pipe it drains into.

When a camera is worth the visit

  • The same drain has clogged twice this year

A repeat clog is a pipe defect in disguise. The camera shows what it is catching on, so the next visit fixes the reason instead of the symptom.

  • You’re in escrow on an older house

The inspection period is the only window in which a sewer defect is the seller’s problem to negotiate. After closing it’s yours. A scope during escrow is inexpensive leverage.

  • Someone quoted you a full sewer replacement

It may be right. Ask to see the footage it was based on. If there isn’t any, get some before you sign, because a replacement quoted without video is a guess with a price attached.

  • Big trees stand between the house and the street

Mesquite, ficus, and citrus roots travel a long way for water, and a sewer lateral is a dependable supply. Their roots usually show on camera well before they cause a backup.

  • A remodel will tie new fixtures into old drains

A new bathroom draining into a cracked 1960s line inherits the crack. Look before the tile goes down, and plan the bathroom plumbing around what is really there.

  • Jetting is on the table

High-pressure water and a cracked pipe are a poor pairing. Hydro jetting should follow a camera pass, never precede it.

Questions we get asked

How far can a sewer camera go?
Far enough for a typical residential lateral, from the house to the city main. Very long runs, or lines crossing large rural lots, may need a second access point, which we identify before starting.
Can the camera show where the problem is from above ground?
Close enough to dig by. A transmitter in the camera head is picked up by a handheld locator on the surface, giving position and approximate depth. That is how a repair becomes a small excavation instead of an exploratory one.
Does a home inspection include a sewer scope?
Usually not by default. Many inspectors offer it as an add-on or refer it out, and plenty of buyers skip it to save a little. On an older house with mature trees, that is a bet worth reconsidering.
Will a camera inspection find leaks in my water pipes?
Different system. A sewer camera inspects drains, which run by gravity. Pressurized supply leaks under a slab are found with acoustic and thermal methods, which is leak detection, a separate visit.
