  • Sputtering, sideways spray

    Debris or scale in the aerator. Clean it and watch. If the grit returns quickly, something upstream is shedding it, often a failing water heater or corroding galvanized pipe.

  • Shutoffs that won’t budge

    A valve that won’t turn, or weeps at the stem when it does, can’t protect you in an emergency. It’s a small replacement, best done alongside the faucet work, and a common find in homes with their original stops.

  • What’s leaking behind the pull-down sprayer?

    The hose has usually worn through where it rubs the cabinet or the counterweight. Hoses are replaceable on most brands, and the leak they cause lands inside the cabinet, where nobody looks.

Why does my faucet drip after I turn it off?
On a cartridge faucet, scale or wear on the sealing surfaces. On an older two-handle compression faucet, a worn washer or pitted seat. Both are repairable. If it drips for only a few seconds after closing, that’s the spout draining, and it’s normal.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a faucet?
For a good faucet with available parts, repair almost always wins. For a builder-grade faucet whose cartridge costs nearly as much as the whole unit, replacement makes more sense. When it’s close, we price both.
Will a new faucet fix low water pressure?
Only if the old faucet was the restriction. Clean the aerator first; if the stream is still weak, try the other fixtures. Low pressure everywhere points to the pressure regulator, a partly closed main, or scale-choked galvanized pipe, which is a pipe repair question rather than a faucet one.
How do I keep scale from ruining a new faucet?
