    A cracked line or a loose cleanout cap lets gas out at the surface. Check the cap first, since that costs nothing. If it’s tight and the smell stays, the pipe is the suspect.

  • Every drain in the house is slow at once

    One sluggish fixture is a local clog. All of them together means the restriction sits downstream of everything, in the main or the lateral.

  • On septic: wet ground over the field, or drains that slow after heavy use

Can roots be killed without digging?

What does trenchless sewer repair actually mean?
Fixing or replacing the pipe through small access pits instead of an open trench. Lining cures a new pipe inside the old one; bursting pulls a new pipe through while splitting the old one outward. Lining needs a line that can be cleaned and is still roughly round. Trenchless isn’t always cheaper. It is always less digging.
