We’ll admit a bias. In Tempe, the kitchen upgrade we most like to install is the unglamorous one. A new faucet looks good for years. A pair of quarter-turn shutoffs, fresh braided supply lines, and a dishwasher hose with a proper high loop quietly prevent the flood. Ask for both at once and the second part adds very little to the job.

  • The cabinet floor has a soft, swollen patch

    Particleboard wicks water and puffs up. A stain with a crusty white edge means a slow drip that has been evaporating nearly as fast as it lands, which in a Phoenix summer can go on for a very long time.

  • Water rises in the other basin

    When the disposal side drains into its neighbor, the blockage is past the tee, in the trap arm or the branch line. Plunging one side just pushes the clog back and forth. Cabling or drain cleaning clears it.

  • Standing water in the dishwasher

    Check the filter in the bottom of the tub first. If it’s clean, the drain hose may be kinked behind the machine or clogged where it joins the disposal or sink tailpiece.

  • Why are the ice cubes small and hollow?

    Usually low flow: a crimped supply line, a scaled inlet valve, or a filter overdue for a change. Old saddle valves, which clamp onto a copper line and pierce it, are a frequent culprit and worth replacing with a proper shutoff.

  • A spray that fans out sideways

    Mineral scale on the aerator or sprayer face. A vinegar soak fixes the spray. If the faucet also drips from the spout or leaks at the base, the cartridge is next, and faucet repair or replacement is the conversation.

  • Gurgling from the sink while the dishwasher drains

    Air is being pulled through the trap because the line is partly blocked or the vent is struggling. It’s an early warning, often weeks before the sink actually backs up.

Why does my kitchen sink keep clogging?
Grease, almost always, with rice, pasta, and coffee grounds for company. The fat coats the branch line and catches everything that follows. Cabling punches a hole through it. If the line clogs on a schedule, hydro jetting scours the pipe wall clean and buys years instead of weeks.
Can you install a dishwasher?
The plumbing side, yes: supply valve, supply line, drain connection with a high loop or air gap, and the disposal tie-in. Where an outlet or electrical whip is already in place, the swap is simple. A brand-new circuit is a job for an electrician.
Can a kitchen sink be moved to an island?
It can. On a slab, that means cutting a trench in the concrete for a drain with proper slope and, because an island has no wall to hide a vent in, a venting method that works without one. It’s a real project with a permit, not an afternoon. We quote it after seeing the layout and where the existing drain runs.
Why is there water under my kitchen sink?
Work from the top down. Wipe everything dry, then run the faucet alone, then the sprayer, then the disposal, then the dishwasher, checking with a paper towel after each. Wet from above the sink deck points to the faucet base; wet at a joint below points to that joint. A drip that only appears during a dishwasher cycle is usually the drain hose connection.
